WestComTrans organizes sea freight from Spanish ports to Russia and EAEU member states — from cargo collection at the supplier’s premises in Barcelona, Valencia, or Algeciras to delivery directly to the recipient’s warehouse. We operate as a single operator: we coordinate the route, freight, customs clearance, and last-mile delivery across Russia ourselves, so responsibility is not dispersed among different contractors. We handle any volume — from a single pallet in a groupage shipment to a full 40-foot container load.
Since 2022, major global shipping lines have not operated direct container services from EU ports to Russian ports, and sanctions regulations governing sea freight continue to be refined in 2026 as well. For this reason, most shipments from Spain travel via a multimodal scheme — with consolidation and transshipment through transit hubs (most commonly Turkey) rather than a single direct port call. The indicative delivery timeframe is 20 to 40 days depending on the route, transshipment scheme, and load at the transit hub. The exact scheme and timeframes for a specific cargo and product category are agreed at the calculation stage.
Why Sea Freight from Spain is a Cost-Effective Solution
- Savings on bulky and heavy cargo. For furniture, tiles, equipment, construction materials, and other heavy shipments, sea freight is consistently cheaper than air and often cheaper than road transport on a per kg/m³ basis.
- One operator — one responsibility. You do not have to piece together a chain of a sea agent, broker, and road carrier yourself — WestComTrans handles all of this, giving you a single point of contact for the entire route.
- Any type of cargo. We accept groupage, oversized, and bulk cargo, as well as cargo requiring special temperature conditions.
- Fast transfer to other transport. If cargo needs to be delivered to a region after arriving at a Russian port, we arrange the road leg without additional intermediaries — as part of a unified multimodal scheme.

Ports of Departure in Spain and Ports of Destination in Russia
We collect cargo from the supplier at any location in Spain and deliver it to a consolidation warehouse or port of departure, from which we arrange onward transportation via a multimodal scheme with transshipment through a transit hub. The main Spanish ports and destination ports in Russia/EAEU that we work with, along with indicative transit times and costs:
| Port/warehouse of departure (Spain) | Port of destination | Indicative transit time | 20′ container | 40′ container |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Barcelona | Novorossiysk (via transit hub) |
25–35 days | from €5,500 | from €8,500 |
| Valencia | Novorossiysk (via transit hub) |
25–35 days | from €5,700 | from €8,800 |
| Algeciras | Novorossiysk (via transit hub) |
28–38 days | from €5,900 | from €9,000 |
| Bilbao / Castellón | Saint Petersburg (via transit hub) |
28–40 days | from €6,000 | from €9,200 |
For groupage cargo (LCL), the rate is calculated separately — per m³ or per actual weight; on average from €1,400–1,900 per 1 m³/150 kg, inclusive of additional transshipment and documentation at the transit hub.
The prices and transit times stated are indicative and do not constitute a public offer. Due to periodically changing sanctions regulations, availability of direct port calls, and transit hub capacity, actual conditions may differ in either direction — we provide an exact calculation after receiving the cargo specifications, product category (TN VED code), and completing a current route verification.
After cargo arrives in Russia, we arrange customs clearance and delivery to the recipient’s warehouse in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, or any other city — including regional destinations.
What Determines Sea Freight Transit Time
The final transit time is made up of several factors:
- the absence of direct port calls from EU ports to Russian ports and the need for transshipment via a transit hub;
- vessel departure schedules on each leg of the route — not all lines sail weekly;
- consolidation time if the cargo is part of a groupage shipment;
- transit hub capacity and seasonal fluctuations in freight demand;
- product category — certain TN VED codes require additional verification and processing time;
- customs clearance time at the Russian border.
We confirm the exact transit time in the calculation after receiving the cargo specifications, route, and product category.
FCL and LCL: How to Choose the Right Shipping Format
The format depends on the shipment volume and delivery timeline requirements.
Full Container Load (FCL)
Suitable when the cargo occupies an entire container (from ~15 m³) or when it is important to eliminate transshipment and contact with other goods in transit. This is the optimal choice for equipment, furniture, ceramics, construction materials, and any shipments where packaging integrity is critical. 20′ and 40′ containers — cargo is collected from the supplier and travels without consolidation with other shipments.
Groupage Cargo (LCL)
Suitable for shipments from 1 pallet when ordering an entire container is not cost-effective. Cargo is delivered to a consolidation warehouse in Spain, combined with other shipments, and travels on a single sailing. You pay only for the volume actually occupied — this makes LCL the primary choice for small and medium-sized businesses purchasing from multiple Spanish suppliers simultaneously.
How to decide: if you have less than 15 m³ and there is no urgency — choose LCL; if the cargo fills an entire container or requires separate transportation without transshipment — FCL. In borderline cases, our manager will compare the cost of both options based on the specific figures of your shipment.
Customs Clearance and Related Services
As part of the sea freight service, we handle:
- TN VED code determination and calculation of customs payments;
- preparation and verification of the invoice, packing list, and declaration;
- certification and obtaining permit documents where required for a specific product category;
- cargo insurance for the entire duration of transportation.

Cargo Insurance for Sea Freight
Sea freight takes two to four weeks, so cargo is insured for the entire journey — from the port of departure to the recipient’s warehouse. Insurance covers loss and damage of cargo, as well as force majeure events in transit. Insurance terms are discussed individually based on the type and value of the cargo.

Ответы на частые вопросы
On average, 25 to 40 days. There are currently no direct regular port calls from EU ports to Russian ports, so most cargo travels via transshipment through a transit hub — which increases the transit time compared to the pre-sanctions period.
Yes, we arrange the transportation of oversized and hazardous cargo — we select the appropriate vessel and packaging and prepare all necessary permit documents.
Freight, port cargo handling, and documentation support. Customs clearance, insurance, and door-to-door delivery are calculated separately and included in the final quote for your specific cargo.
No, we include customs clearance in the comprehensive service — you do not need to find a separate broker.
Yes, current sanctions regulations affect the availability of direct shipping lines, insurance, and transit times — this is reflected in the route and final price. We verify the product category (TN VED code) in advance and select a legal, workable delivery scheme for each specific cargo.
