Transportation Directions
WestComTrans organizes cargo exports from Russia to Qatar — to Doha, Hamad Port or directly to the consignee’s warehouse. We collect cargo anywhere in Russia, file the export declaration, prepare documents to meet Qatari customs requirements and handle delivery all the way to the consignee. Our home port is Novorossiysk, so we arrange sea shipments to the Middle East without intermediaries and under a single contract.
What Our Turnkey Export Service to Qatar Includes
You hand over the cargo and the contract — we take care of everything else:
- cargo pickup from any warehouse or factory in Russia;
- packing, palletizing, marking and securing cargo inside the container;
- HS code classification and export customs clearance;
- certificate of origin and a full document package for Qatar;
- freight booking and trucking along the land bridge;
- cargo insurance;
- delivery to the consignee’s warehouse in Qatar;
- status updates at every stage of transit.

How We Work with Exporters
Logistics and customs under your contract. You already have a signed contract with a Qatari buyer. We plan the route, clear the cargo for export and deliver it under the agreed Incoterms.
Full foreign trade support. If you don’t have a foreign trade department, we review your contract and invoice, prepare the documents for customs and your bank, and agree them with the consignee before shipment.
Pre-deal consulting. We help you choose the right delivery terms — FCA, FOB, CFR, CIF or DAP — so it is clear who pays for freight and insurance and at what point the risk passes to the buyer.
Shipping Options from Russia to Qatar
Qatar sits on a peninsula in the Persian Gulf, and its only land border is with Saudi Arabia. Since spring 2026, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has almost stopped, so most container cargo now reaches Qatar via combined sea-and-road routes. We choose the route based on your cargo, deadline and budget.
Sea to Jeddah + Land Bridge Across Saudi Arabia
The container leaves Novorossiysk, passes through the Suez Canal and is discharged at the Red Sea port of Jeddah. From there it is trucked across Saudi Arabia and enters Qatar through the Abu Samra border crossing. This route avoids the Strait of Hormuz entirely and is currently the main option for metals, building materials, food products and equipment.
Sea to Oman and UAE Ports + Trucking
Cargo is discharged at ports outside the strait — Sohar and Salalah in Oman, Khor Fakkan and Fujairah in the UAE — and then trucked through the UAE and Saudi Arabia to Qatar. We use this option when Jeddah is congested or rates on the required date are better.
Direct Sea Shipping to Hamad Port
Some carriers do sail into the Persian Gulf, but with a war risk surcharge — around $1,000 per container with major lines — and an unstable schedule. We offer this option only when a sailing is confirmed.
Air Freight to Doha
Suitable for urgent shipments, spare parts, electronics, samples, medical supplies and perishables. Transit time is a matter of days. Pricing is based on whichever is greater: actual weight or volumetric weight.
| Option | Transit time | Shipment size | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sea + land bridge via Jeddah | from 28 days | from 1 container / LCL | Metals, building materials, food, equipment |
| Sea to Oman/UAE + trucking | from 28 days | from 1 container | Alternative when Jeddah is congested |
| Direct sea to Hamad | from 28 days | from 1 container | When a sailing is confirmed |
| Air freight | from 3 days | up to 1–3 t | Urgent, high-value and perishable cargo |
Cost and Transit Times for Exports to Qatar
The final price depends on several factors:
- the route used to bypass the Strait of Hormuz — currently the main cost driver;
- container type and quantity, cargo weight and volume;
- shipping mode: reefer, dangerous goods (IMDG), out-of-gauge;
- distance from your warehouse in Russia to Novorossiysk;
- carrier surcharges: war risk, fuel, and empty container drop-off fees in Qatar;
- customs clearance, insurance and document legalization.
Freight rates in the region change more often than usual in 2026. That is why we fix the price in our quote as of the calculation date and warn you upfront about possible carrier surcharges.
| Route | 20′ | 40’HC |
|---|---|---|
| Novorossiysk — Doha (via Jeddah) | from $3960 | from $5740 |
Rates are indicative and do not constitute a public offer.
What Russia Exports to Qatar
Qatar imports almost everything except hydrocarbons. The most common exports from Russia include:
| Cargo | Shipping specifics |
|---|---|
| Wheat, barley, corn, flour | Lined containers, phytosanitary certificate. Russian export duty on grain is set at zero until 31.12.2026 |
| Sunflower oil, food products | Arabic labeling, shelf-life control, reefer containers for chilled goods. Sunflower oil is subject to a Russian export duty |
| Rolled metal, steel | Secure lashing inside the container. Steel products may require a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Qatari side |
| Building materials, sawn timber | Wood packaging treated to ISPM 15 |
| Equipment, machinery | Open Top and Flat Rack containers, project cargo for out-of-gauge loads |
| Chemical products | Shipped as dangerous goods, import license required for the consignee |
Documents Required for Exporting to Qatar
Russian-Side Documents
- foreign trade contract and specification;
- commercial invoice and packing list;
- export customs declaration;
- bill of lading (B/L) or air waybill (AWB);
- certificate of origin;
- phytosanitary or veterinary certificate — for regulated products;
- contract registration with an authorized bank if the export contract value is RUB 10 million or more.
Qatari Customs Requirements
- Legalization of the invoice and certificate of origin. Without it, Qatari customs charges an additional fee, plus a fine for missing original documents.
- Invoice — an original on the shipper’s letterhead, signed and stamped. Each line item must show the HS code, country of origin, number of packages, and gross and net weight. Zero-value invoices and discounts are not accepted.
- Consignee’s import license — we verify it before shipment.
- Certificate of conformity — for tyres, auto parts and household electrical appliances.
- Arabic labeling for food products — on the original label or as a sticker.
All commercial shipments are inspected by Qatari customs before release. That’s why we check the requirements with the consignee before shipment: fixing documents in Novorossiysk is faster and cheaper than at the port of destination.
Export Customs Clearance in Russia
We file the export declaration ourselves, usually in Novorossiysk, so your cargo doesn’t sit waiting for a third-party broker. What we handle:
- HS code classification, which determines duties, restrictions and required permits;
- checking whether your goods are subject to export duties, quotas or bans;
- documents to confirm the 0% VAT rate on exports;
- arranging inspection and customs release.
Shipping to Qatar: What Affects Transit Time and Cargo Safety
- Strait of Hormuz. Direct container services to Hamad are unreliable, and the Jeddah route gets congested at peak times. That’s why we build a backup route into every quote from the start — no surprises at shipment.
- Heat and humidity. Summer temperatures in Qatar exceed +45 °C, and cargo on the land bridge spends longer on the road. For food, chemicals and electronics we use reefer containers, desiccants and ventilated packaging.
- Wooden packaging. Pallets and crates must be treated and marked to ISPM 15, otherwise the cargo will be held.
- Working calendar. The weekend in Qatar is Friday and Saturday. During Ramadan, government offices work shorter hours — we factor this into the unloading schedule.

We transport the following goods:

“The biggest mistake exporters make with Qatar in 2026 is planning a shipment the old way — ‘straight by sea to Hamad.’ While the Strait of Hormuz remains closed to regular shipping, we calculate two routes for every client from the start — a main one and a backup, usually via Jeddah or Omani ports — and fix the rate in our quote. The second place where exporters lose money is paperwork: an unlegalized invoice or certificate of origin costs far more to fix in Qatar than to prepare correctly in Novorossiysk. That’s why we review the document package together with the consignee before the container even leaves the warehouse.” – Alexander Morozov, Logistics Specialist at WestComTrans

Ответы на частые вопросы
By air — from 3 days to Doha. By sea from Novorossiysk with a land bridge across Saudi Arabia — from 28 days. The exact transit time depends on congestion at transshipment ports and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz on the shipment date.
A contract, invoice, packing list, export declaration, bill of lading or air waybill, and a certificate of origin. The invoice and certificate of origin must be legalized; otherwise Qatari customs will charge an additional fee. Certain goods also require certificates of conformity.
Yes. Groupage (LCL) shipments start from 1 m³, and you pay only for the space you use. This works well for equipment, spare parts and trial batches.
Qatar is part of the Gulf Cooperation Council customs union. Most goods are subject to a unified 5% duty on the CIF value, paid by the consignee. Higher rates apply to certain goods.
Yes. You will need a phytosanitary or veterinary certificate, Arabic labeling and compliance with shelf-life standards. For chilled and frozen products we use reefer containers.
